Statue of Muhammad Pasha Jaf Unveiled in Kalar



Chief of Executive Body of PUK Political Bureau, Mala Bakhtiyar, unveiled in a ceremony the statue of Kurdish prominent figure Muhammad Pasha Jaf at Sherwana Castle, Kalar District.

Attended by hundreds of people and political and government officials, the ceremony was started with observing a one-minute silence for the memory of all Kurdish martyrs.

Later, Mala Bakhtiyar said in speech it was an honor for PUK to pay tribute to the founder of the Sherwana Castle, Muhammad Pasha Jaf, adding that he had his own position in the Kurdish history.

Muhammad Pasha Jaff is the founder of Sherwana Castle. Located in Kalar district, the castle was built in 1734 and it still stands till this day.

It is home to the Jaff Family, a well-known Kurdish tribe whose most members and clans have inhabited in Garmiyan areas for centuries.
